Build a Bear Workshop & Stampin’ Up!

I am so excited to share with you the best mini catalog ever!  Really!  Its this year’s Holiday Mini Catalog.

Along with the holiday sets (Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas), Stampin’ Up! is introducing three new product lines.

First, there’s Simply Adorned.  These are charms and chains that you use to create unique jewelry and home decor.

Also, My Digital Studio- which I am so stoked about!!!  Digital (and hybrid!) scrapbooking- the Stampin’ Up! way!!!  I’ll share more about that later.

Today, I’m sharing with you the partnership between Build a Bear Workshop and Stampin’ Up!  Genius!

BABW pic by you.

Build A Bear Workshop is very popular in my house.  My daughter, Esther, got her first Build A Bear for her birthday last year.  She loves her Princess Fluffy.  We’ll probably take my son to get his first for his birthday later this month.  (They’ve got some cool boy styles.)

My kids got SO excited when I showed them the BABW section of the Holiday Mini.  They want it all!  We’ve got three stamp sets, eight Sizzix dies and patterned paper.  They are all fabulous for making cards and scrapbook pages.  But with the dies, you can also make super cute and easy paper dolls for the kids, where the can change the clothes and have so much fun!  Your kids, grandkids and friends’ kids will have hours of fun playing with these.

On Monday, I went to a demonstrator swap where we made cards with a lot of the Holiday Mini products.  I’ll share the rest of the projects later this week.  Today I’m sharing the bears. :)  Both cards are made with the new set Beary Best Friends.

This is the project I designed:

build a bear- mine by you.

I stamped and watercolored our cute girly bear using Watercolor Wonder Crayons.  Then I punched out the flower and balloon from our new Cottage Wall DSP.  (The punches are the Trio Flower & the 3/4″ Circle punches.)  I popped those up with Dimensionals. I made the grass using the Scallop Edge punch, like I did with my Upsy Daisy silhouttes card.  I popped that up with Dimensionals, too.  The background was made with my Big Shot and Stampin’ Up! Backgrounds 1 Texturz plates.

This one was designed by fellow demonstrator Aimee Wayment.

I love how she used Crystal Effects to shine the shoes!  Also notice how the skirt is “paper-pierced” using Razzleberry Lemonade DSP.

The sentiment up on the side is from Beary Nice Wishes.  They are cute sayings in the BABW font.

Shaker Card: Party Hearty

I love cards that have texture, or that are 3-D. I think it makes them more interesting. Some cards go a step further: interactive cards! These cards are so much fun to make- and to receive!

This is a Shaker Card. The focal point is a rubber stamped cupcake that shows through a window holding confetti. You can shake the card and the confetti moves all over the image.

I like to show the cards I make to my kids (they’re actually very constructive critics!). But I have a hard time getting my shaker cards back out of their hands. :) They’re too much fun!

I’ll be having a class soon to teach the Shaker card technique, along with the Slider and Spinner cards. I haven’t decided yet whether we’ll be making this particular Shaker, or another one. I have lots of ideas and will let you know when I pin one down!

Here are the details (you’ll be seing more samples in the coming weeks):

Scratch n Sniff: Strawberry Lemonade

I’m sure you can relate.  Sometimes, you make a card and have a hard time giving it up.  I’m a hoarder, so this happens to me a lot.  This week, I’ve actually made a lot of these almost-didn’t-leave-my-stamp-room-because-I-couldn’t-bear-to-part-with projects.  The one I’m sharing today is definitely no exception.

Introducing…  Scratch ‘n Sniff: Strawberry Lemonade.

scratch n sniff lemonade card 1 by you.

There are a lot of things I really like about this card.  The awesome 3-D curved vellum glass for one.  The Dazzling Diamonds sugar up on the rim.  The lemon slice cut so that it sits on the rim…

…The Texturz polka dot background.  The pieces of fruit inside on the bottom of the glass…

…And, of course, the Scratch n Sniff!

Oh, this is one of those cards that you just cannot fully appreciate on the computer monitor!  The lemon and strawberry each smell like lemon and strawberry.  “Scratch a lemon, it smells like a lemon.  Scratch a strawberry, it smells like a strawberry.  Scratch a snozberry, it smells like a snozberry.”   “Whoever heard of a snozberry?” (Sorry, the Wonka in me just took over.)

If you’d like to learn how to do this technique (of course you do!), just make sure you are signed up for my email newsletter.  I made a step-by-step photo tutorial that will be featured in the September issue.  It will be going out next week, so sign up soon.  (Just use the blue box at the top of my sidebar.)  And hey, its FREE!  :)

The photo below shows the textured polka dot background the best.

So, yeah, I didn’t want to give this beauty away.  But the person I made it for really deserves it.  So, thanks- you know who you are.

I hope you don’t think I’m cocky with all my compliments on my own work.  lol.  But I have just had a really terrific stamping week, and I am relishing in it!

Scrapbook Page: Bringing Jared Home

Last week, I made this 2-page-spread.  I don’t do my scrapbooking in any order, the way some scrappers work chronologically, or do holidays or vacations first.  I just work on whatever I feel like.  This time I pulled up photos of my little boy, born almost 4 years ago, and the day we took him home from the hospital.

This page is simple, and I like it!

I mostly did basic stamping, then used punches and Paper Snips to cut out the images.  I used Dimensionals to pop up some of the elements.

I used a little grosgrain ribbon throughout the page.  Here, I opened the prongs of a Silver Brad and wrapped them around the ribbon.

I had this scrap of designer paper that I had used to punch out stars for another project.  I liked the way it looked, so I just layered it over the photo mat.  This is what started the page, and I added the other stamped and punched stars around the page to tie everything together.

Razzle Dazzle

I know I’ve been slacking on my blog here, lately.  My daughter’s birthday is coming up and we’re planning an awesome party (you’ll be seing the invites soon- stamped, of course!).

So I’m cheating a little today and posting a card someone else made.  But I love it- the new stamp set, the new In Colors, and the simple layout that is easy to duplicate!

This card was created by Dawn Olchefske.  She used the new Razzle Dazzle stamp set & Rich Razzleberry & Melon Mambo In Colors.  She used the new Markers to color directly onto the stamp.  Isn’t it pretty?
