Pumpkin Patch

Today I’m showing you another cute card we made at the Holiday Shoebox Swap.  Halloween is only a month and a half away.  Time to start thinking about spooky little projects.  :)

This is made with the new stamp set, Pumpkin Patch, in the Holiday Mini Catalog.

I love that the set includes patterned ovals that you can use for so many other things- think Easter Eggs, balloons, and flower centers!

See the sparkle on the faces?  We used the 2-Way Glue Pen to adhere Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.  I love that stuff!

And here is a cute little box made with Pumpkin Patch that Stampin’ Up! is featuring on their website right now.

Scratch n Sniff: Strawberry Lemonade

I’m sure you can relate.  Sometimes, you make a card and have a hard time giving it up.  I’m a hoarder, so this happens to me a lot.  This week, I’ve actually made a lot of these almost-didn’t-leave-my-stamp-room-because-I-couldn’t-bear-to-part-with projects.  The one I’m sharing today is definitely no exception.

Introducing…  Scratch ‘n Sniff: Strawberry Lemonade.

scratch n sniff lemonade card 1 by you.

There are a lot of things I really like about this card.  The awesome 3-D curved vellum glass for one.  The Dazzling Diamonds sugar up on the rim.  The lemon slice cut so that it sits on the rim…

…The Texturz polka dot background.  The pieces of fruit inside on the bottom of the glass…

…And, of course, the Scratch n Sniff!

Oh, this is one of those cards that you just cannot fully appreciate on the computer monitor!  The lemon and strawberry each smell like lemon and strawberry.  “Scratch a lemon, it smells like a lemon.  Scratch a strawberry, it smells like a strawberry.  Scratch a snozberry, it smells like a snozberry.”   “Whoever heard of a snozberry?” (Sorry, the Wonka in me just took over.)

If you’d like to learn how to do this technique (of course you do!), just make sure you are signed up for my email newsletter.  I made a step-by-step photo tutorial that will be featured in the September issue.  It will be going out next week, so sign up soon.  (Just use the blue box at the top of my sidebar.)  And hey, its FREE!  :)

The photo below shows the textured polka dot background the best.

So, yeah, I didn’t want to give this beauty away.  But the person I made it for really deserves it.  So, thanks- you know who you are.

I hope you don’t think I’m cocky with all my compliments on my own work.  lol.  But I have just had a really terrific stamping week, and I am relishing in it!

Galt Club Projects

jan 09 club projects 1 by you.

The ladies in my Galt Stamp Club asked for Valentines projects this month!  I was happy to comply, and of course reached for my Love You Much Bundle as the base for each of the projects.  (The bundle is 20% off only through Jan 31st- time is running out!)

I’m so excited about what I came up with!  We had a great time Friday night stamping.

This is the card we made.  Have I told you how much I love those two birds?  They are just so sweet!

The glitter window along the bottom of the card is just adorable!  When it is closed, you can see the Candy Lane Designer paper showing through from the inside of the card.  Below, you can see the Dazzling Diamonds really shine!

I made the glitter window by first placing the Close to Cocoa card stock (punched with the Scallop Edge Punch) over the base of the Riding Hood Red card and securing with Dotto, a good temporary adhesive.  Then I punched out the hearts using the new Heart to Heart Punch.  I removed the Cocoa piece and stuck packing tape across the back where it couldn’t be seen.  The sticky part of the tape is seen through the hearts in the front.  Then I poured Dazzing Diamonds Glitter all over the piece and brushed off all the excess glitter.  Finally, I added adhesive to the pack of the Cocoa card stock, lined it up with the hearts on the card base, and glued it down.

Here is what the card looks like open:

I colored the Chipboard Square with Close to Cocoa Craft Ink and a Sponge Dauber.  Once it was dry, I used a 2-Way Glue Pen to add some glitter to the frame.  It needed some glitz, too!  The birds are softly colored in with Pastels.

I designed this 6×6 scrapbook page to be fast and easy to assemble since the other two projects are a little time-consuming.  But I love the way it looks!  The photo I chose wasn’t a good quality one.  It was taken in low lighting and was pretty grainy.  So I decided to go with a vintage look.  I changed the overall photo to B&W first, then tinted it with a Chocolate Chip color.  After I printed it, I used a Stampin’ Sponge and Chocolate Chip ink to color the edges, creating a feathered vignette-look.

I covered the stamped flower with a punched out one from the Trio Flower Punch and secured with a Silver Brad.  I also used  a VersaMarker to darken the inside of the letters.  I did the same thing with the heart on the accent:

I got the idea for this sweet box from Stampin’ Up!’s website for demonstrators.

jan 09 club projects 11 by you.

This part was made by stamping the same image three times using Chocolate Chip ink: once on each Close to Cocoa, Whisper White, and Riding Hood Red card stocks.  I punched out the largest part with the Scallop Circle Punch, the middle with the 1-1/4″ Circle Punch, and cut out the heart with my Paper Snips.  Then I colored in the dots with the Uni-ball White Gell Pen.

The hearts on the base of the box were made using both the Heart to Heart punch, and a Stampin’ Wheel!  First, I punched the hearts out of a piece of plain paper.  Then I used Dotto again to temporarily stick the template I made to the box (do this before you assemble the box!).  I sponged on ink with Close to Cocoa.  Then I inked up my Doodle Jumbo Wheel with Chocolate Chip and wheeled over the punched out template.  Ta-Da!  A super-cute design on my hearts!

Some Riding Hood Red Taffeta Ribbon and a stamped saying finishes the project!

April 08 Totally Hands On Samples

These are the projects that I’m teaching for my April workshops!

This fun little card uses the Nursery Neccessities stamp set.  Its a baby set, but for this card I’ve made it more generic.  I think you could send this card for any happy occassion.

To start the focal point, I punched the Large Star Punch through Brocade Blue card stock.

Then I created a dry embossing template with the (small) Star Punch.  To do this, I simply punched through a piece of thin chipboard.  Then, using the an embossing stylus, I raised the smaller star centered inside the larger one.

Next, to define the raised section, I sponged Brocade Blue ink, keeping the embossing template in place as a guide.  Then I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter with a 2-Way Glue Pen.

I placed the star on an Always Artichoke scallop with a Dimensional, then punched a hole through the scallop and threaded the grosgrain ribbon through.

To finish it off, I stamped the small star from the stamp set with Bashful Blue Classic Ink onto the same color card base and stamped the saying with Always Artichoke.  Then I dry embossed the small star overlapping the stamped images.

I stamped the big pretty flower from the Doodle This stamp set twice on Glossy White card stock.  On one of them, I added color using a Lavender Lace Classic Pad and an Aqua Painter.  Then I cut out both flowers using our wonderful Paper Snips.  They are my favorite scissors!

I again used the 2-Way Glue Pen & Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to highlight parts of the flower.

A dimensional pops the flower up away from the page.

The saying is from the Eastern Elegance Rub-Ons.  I think it would have looked better if I had used the black one.

But I LOVE the swirly doodles in this set!!

For the 3D item this month, I made a gift enclosure.  It holds a Jamba Juice gift card, but you could also put other things inside like a tea or Kool-Aid packet, or orange flavored lollipops.

I love the Tart & Tangy stamp set in the Occassions Mini Catalog!  It is SO cute!  And its so convenient that the images fit perfectly in the circle punches.

The stamp set also works so well with the Enjoy Every Moment set, that I used on the inside and with its jumbo wheel, Daisy Dash.  I like how the flowers on the wheel look with the Scallop Circle punch and the punched scallop edge on the flap.

(Enjoy Every Moment & the Daisy Dash jumbo wheel are part of this month’s promo.)

Super Sweet Baby Card

Quite a while ago I went to a baby shower for my friend, Erica.  My DH snapped some pictures of the card I made before I ran out the door.  Thanks, Tom!

The fold is CASEd from a swap I recently received.  The card is the top left one in the photo of the So Many Scallops swaps in this post

The stamp set is the new Nursery Necessities set.  I have to admit, the set didn’t grab me at first.  But the more I looked at it and saw samples made with it, the more I liked the looks of it.  Now that I have it myself, I find that it is so easy to use & I love it!!

I used my 2-Way Glue Pen to outline the Bashful Blue moon and to fill in the Barely Banana star.  Then I sprinkled them all over with Dazzling Diamonds glitter to make them all sparkly!  I really like how the moon looks layered over the Scallop Circle punch!  I mirrored the scallop look on the left edge of the designer paper on the right, using the Corner Rounder punch.  It isn’t seen until you open the card.

The paper is really old, retired Stampin’ Up! designer paper.  (sorry.)

I used our fabulous Stampin’ Write Markers to color the different sections of the little sail boat.  Then I added a Dimensional to the back of the boat and tucked it into the waves I created with the designer paper.

I’m really happy with the how this card turned out.  There were a couple different elements I had wanted to add, but I ran out of time.  But now I think it may look better this way.  :)   I’m sure I’ll be using this card fold and this stamp set again soon!
